On the morning of April 18, Mr. Chen Gang, secretary of Chaoyang District Committee of the CPC, met with Canadian Seven-member Mayors Delegation with the company of Cheng Hong, vice Governor of the District. Secretary Chen first made an introduction to the basic situation and characteristics of Chaoyang District. He pointed out that Chaoyang, as a big economic and foreign-related district, has a strong potential for development and it attracts extensive attention for being a place where the main venues of the Beijing Olympic Games are located. He hopes that the district can be benefited from Canadian¡¯s rich experience in city management and seek solutions to problems arising from the process of urban development through friendly exchanges and cooperation between cities. Mr. Richard Walton, mayor of North Vancouver District, addressed the meeting as a member of the Delegation. He extended his sincere thanks for the warm hospitality they received from Chaoyang District. He pointed out that countries might meet with some common problems in the process of development due to ever intensifying globalization, and hoped that this meeting would become a turning point for both parties to build a harmonious relationship of mutual assistance and mutual benefit so as to promote common development.
