In the afternoon of November 20, the leader of Chaoyang District met with the American delegates of the first anniversary celebration ceremony of the cooperative project of ¡°Chaoyang Anti-piracy Model District¡± set up by Chaoyang District People¡¯s Government and the American Chamber of Commerce in China.

Mr. Cheng stated at the meeting that there have been certain achievements on copyright protection and anti-piracy; the bilateral cooperation is pleasant and accomplished.  Through a wide range of publicity and education, the awareness of protecting copyright among the public has been raised; through strengthening the supervision of law enforcement, the piracy criminals have been punished and thus the market of audio and video products as well as software market have been regulated.  In the future, we will make efforts on establishing Chaoyang District as a model district of anti-piracy to welcome the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games with a better environment of copyright protection.

The Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in China, Mr. Michael Barbalas said that since the establishment of the American Chamber of Commerce in China, it has served as a bridge between China and the United States for a constructive commercial relationship with vigor and vitality, as well as the communication among the governments and enterprises.  The first anti-piracy model district in China, jointly established by close cooperation between the Chaoyang District government and the American Chamber of Commerce, along with five famous enterprises, has made a certain achievement.  We hope that in future, there will be more similar model districts in China.
