| Chaoyang Reached Intention of Initial Cooperation with Salzburg, Austria for Cultural Exchange |

On December 4, Heinz Schaden, mayor of Salzburg, Austria, sister city of Chaoyang District, made a visit to Chaoyang District Government together with three other members. Wu Guiying, member of District Standing Committee and Executive Deputy District Mayor, met the delegation in the company of the leaders from Government Office, Foreign Affairs Office, and Culture & Heritage Commission of the Chaoyang District. The two sides had a cordial and friendly talk and reached intention of initial cooperation in launching cultural exchanges in 2010. Salzburg is a cultural and music center of Austria, and it is also the hometown of Mozart. In July 2005, Li Shixiang, then-Secretary of District Committee, visited Austria and met the governor of Salzburg. During the visit, the intention of launching friendly exchanges was secured between the city of Salzburg and Chaoyang District. In October 2005, the memorandum of cooperation was officially signed and the friendly relations established. In February 2007, Salzburg presented Chaoyang District with a sculpture of Mozart as a gift, which now stands in Chaoyang Park. |
